Son of Eni in Ælfwald’s pedigree; identifiable as ECGRIC, said by Bede to have been already ruling part of the East Anglain kingdom before Sigeberht’s abdication and then to have succeeded him to all. He too was slain in battle by Penda, King of Mercia (HE III, 18) in the course of his great raid on East Anglia around the year 640.

Æthelric/Ecgric was married to St Hereswith. Their son was the later Wuffing king Ealdwulf.
