Genealogical relations can be reasonably ascertained down to the death of \u00c6lfwald (AD749).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\">According to the sources, Tyttla, the &#8216;son&#8217; of Wuffa, was the father of Eni and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/wuffings.co.uk\/index.php\/wuffing-resources\/raedwald\/\">R\u00c6DWALD<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\"> (died c.625). R\u00e6dwald was married to <\/span>an unnamed queen <span style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\">and had at least two sons, <\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\" title=\"R\u00e6genhere\" href=\"http:\/\/wuffings.co.uk\/index.php\/wuffings-who-was-who\/section-b-the-house-of-wuffa-down-to-the-mid-eighth-century\/raegenhere\/\">R\u00e6genhere<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\"> (killed c.617) and <\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\" title=\"EORPWALD (c.625-27)\" href=\"http:\/\/wuffings.co.uk\/index.php\/wuffings-who-was-who\/section-b-the-house-of-wuffa-down-to-the-mid-eighth-century\/eorpwald-c-625-27\/\">EORPWALD<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\"> (killed c.627). Eorpwald&#8217;s bane and possible successor was <\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\" title=\"RICBERHT (?c.627-30)\" href=\"http:\/\/wuffings.co.uk\/index.php\/wuffings-who-was-who\/section-b-the-house-of-wuffa-down-to-the-mid-eighth-century\/ricberht-c-627-30\/\">RICBERHT<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>By about the year 630, R\u00e6dwald&#8217;s probable step-son <a title=\"SIGEBERHT (c.630-40)\" href=\"http:\/\/wuffings.co.uk\/index.php\/wuffings-who-was-who\/section-b-the-house-of-wuffa-down-to-the-mid-eighth-century\/sigeberht-c-630-40\/\">SIGEBERHT<\/a> appears to have ruled at least part of East Anglia before abdicating in favour of his kinsman <a title=\"\u00c6THELRIC [\u00c6\u00feelric] (c.630-40)\" href=\"http:\/\/wuffings.co.uk\/index.php\/wuffings-who-was-who\/section-b-the-house-of-wuffa-down-to-the-mid-eighth-century\/aethelric-aethelric-c-630-40\/\">ECGRIC or \u00c6THELRIC<\/a>. Both were killed in battle by Penda of Mercia around the year 640.<\/p>\n<p>They were succeeded in turn by \u00c6thelric&#8217;s three brothers: <a title=\"ANNA or ONNA (c.640-54)\" href=\"http:\/\/wuffings.co.uk\/index.php\/wuffings-who-was-who\/section-b-the-house-of-wuffa-down-to-the-mid-eighth-century\/anna-or-onna-c-640-54\/\">ANNA (or ONNA)<\/a>, who was himself also killed in battle by Penda of Mercia (c.654); <a title=\"\u00c6THELHERE [\u00c6\u00feelhere] (c.654-5)\" href=\"http:\/\/wuffings.co.uk\/index.php\/wuffings-who-was-who\/section-b-the-house-of-wuffa-down-to-the-mid-eighth-century\/aethelhere-aethelhere-c-654-5\/\">\u00c6THELHERE<\/a>, who died in battle as Penda&#8217;s ally (c.655); and <a title=\"\u00c6THELWALD [\u00c6\u00feelwald] (c.655-64)\" href=\"http:\/\/wuffings.co.uk\/index.php\/wuffings-who-was-who\/section-b-the-house-of-wuffa-down-to-the-mid-eighth-century\/aethelwald-aethelwald-c-655-64\/\">\u00c6THELWALD<\/a>, whose reign (c.655-64) appears to have marked the beginning of a more peaceful phase of Wuffing history.<\/p>\n<p>The long reign of <a title=\"EALDWULF (c.664-713)\" href=\"http:\/\/wuffings.co.uk\/index.php\/wuffings-who-was-who\/section-b-the-house-of-wuffa-down-to-the-mid-eighth-century\/ealdwulf-c-664-713\/\">EALDWULF<\/a> (c.664-713) followed until he was succeeded by his son <a title=\"\u00c6LFWALD (c.713-49)\" href=\"http:\/\/wuffings.co.uk\/index.php\/wuffings-who-was-who\/section-b-the-house-of-wuffa-down-to-the-mid-eighth-century\/aelfwald-c-713-49\/\">\u00c6LFWALD<\/a> (c.713-49)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a9 Copyright Dr Sam Newton AD 2000, 2014<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Strictly speaking, the horizon of historical credibility in Wuffing genealogy extends no further than the generation of R\u00e6dwald.
