St Æthelthryth [Æþelðryð]; also known as St Ætheldreda or St Audrey

The most famous of the daughters of Anna/Onna. She married

[1] Tonberht, Prince of the fenland Gyrwe and

[2] Ecgfrið, prince, later king of Northumbria (670-685).

She was Founding Abbess of Ely. She died and was buried there 679 [23rd June] (HE IV, 19-20).

Her later cult, maintained for centuries by the Abbots and Bishops of Ely, became one of the most powerful in eastern England.
