1. Beowulf and Beyond

Monday Morning Online Seminars, 09.00 – c.11.00 UK time, including a break roughly midway.

This online seminar group is co-hosted with world-class Beowulf scholar, Professor Len Neidorf of the University of Nanjing.  Please see booking and other details at the bottom of this page. This term we are also exploring the related Old English poem Widsith. The dates arranged are as follows:

2. Early Middle English Language and Literature

Wednesday Morning Online Seminars, 10.15 – 12.45 UK time, with a half-time break at 11.15.

We shall continue our course exploring Early Middle English language and literature, art, culture, the history. Our main text for this term is Layamon’s  Hystoria Bruttonum and related Arthurian tales in English such as Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.  Other texts to be considered this term and next will include Havelok the Dane and, of course, some of the wonderful works of Geoffrey Chaucer.
